“Events like Earth Hour remind us about our responsibility towards nature and our planet,” said Abdulla Al Qamzi, managing director, Khidmah.
“Khidmah is fully conscious about the climate change and supports the initiative taken by WWF to reinforce global sustainability movement worldwide.”
In addition to educating its clients and employees about Earth Hour and switching off the lights in the properties it serves, Khidmah called for raising awareness to the next generation of people about climate change by organising an art competition and exhibition on the theme “How to save the environment” for youngsters and teenagers.
“It is vital to educate our younger generation of the impact to the environment. Once they will be conscious of their responsibilities, we will have many extra hands to protect our planet,” added Al Qamzi.
Earth Earth was held from 8.30pm-9.30pm on Saturday, March 26th. The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, took part as lights in the supertall structure were turned off.
Commenting on the event, HE Saeed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of DEWA said, “For residents to participate in the Earth Hour initiative shows the elite awareness in the community about the importance of conservation and the good work that DEWA has undertaken over the years to raise the importance of conservation in the Emirate.”
