Hundreds of individuals and 30 companies and consultancy firms may be held accountable for floods which swept through Jeddah in 2009 killing more than 120 people.
According to a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency, specialized security agencies have gathered evidence on who was responsible for the damage caused by floods in Jeddah in 2009 on the basis of a report presented by a fact-finding committee.
“These measures have led to transferring the cases of 302 individuals and 30 companies and consultancy offices to specialized agencies in order to conduct investigations and determine responsibility,” a spokesman said.

He said all the cases related to individuals and companies involved in the 2009 Jeddah deluge have been transferred to the Control and Investigation Board and the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.
Saudi’s King Abdullah recently ordered that people and organizations implicated in the flood disaster be brought before investigation agencies in order to take punitive action against them.
More than 120 people died in the November 25, 2009 floods, while 22,000 people were displaced and 8,000 homes and 10,000 vehicles were destroyed.
