Khalid Cement rolled up its sleeves and did its part for the cleaning operation spearheaded by Lusail Real Estate Development for the mega-development in Lusail City, west of Qatar's capital city Doha.
The company, a founding member of Qatar Green Building Council, is active in the state’s green initiatives within new developments, despite the occasional challenges faced by cement companies to cut carbon emissions and prevent areas surrounding its factories to be caked in dust.
Nabil Al Kaluti, group general manager, said: “This step is a significant record of KCIC’s existing environmental awareness that we not only commit to our corporate approach and practices, but extend our caring services to the community as well”.

Some of the biggest cement and ready mix manufacturers have been competing to develop ‘green’ cement, which includes mixtures that contain fly ash and volcanic ash.
Lusail City will eventually see the creation of a new development complete with buildings, infrastructure and a light railway. Damac Properties is developing three mixed use developments, last week handing three contracts to Draieh Contracting.
