Oman has $3.11bn worth of projects underway or being planned, according to a recent report from Business Monitor International (BMI).
The construction industry is growing at 2.1% a year, with the momentum infrastructure investment expected to boost this to 5.06% real growth by the end of the year.
Oman’s five-year spending plan for the period 2011 to 2015 has an estimated budget of $77.9bn, representing a 113% increase. Of this total figure, $15.58bn will be allocated to the oil industry and $7.79bn will be allocated to property development.

“Oman, like the rest of the Middle East region, is striving to recover from the recent economic downturn. The move towards recovery has been marred with key issues like retaining manpower and the need to meet project deadlines,” said Dr. Jayant M. Deshpande, director of the CAD division at Omnix.
