Black Cat Engineering & Construction has won Contractor of the Year at the CW Qatar Awards 2011. The awards were presented at a gala banquet at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha last night.
"It feels really good, it really does. After all these years as a Qatari contractor, and all that effort, and to be recognised by CW," said GM Adnan Al Mubarak at the awards.
The judges praised Black Cat for "stamping its mark upon many of Qatar’s most ambitious upstream and energy-related projects."
The "homegrown" contractor began with a small office in Doha and a single Portacabin site office in the Dukhan oil and gas field.

Since then it has evolved into Qatar’s largest EPIC and maintenance contractor for the upstream oil and gas industry, coinciding with unparalleled activity in the small Gulf state. Today it employs 2,500, with a yearly turnover of $100m. Its clients include some of the biggest companies and organisations in Qatar.
"Now as a contractor we want to expand. We have traditionally been in oil and gas, and now we are looking to infrastructure. We have a strong basis for infrastructure ... Next we will be competing for MEP works, as well as infrastructure and civil work," said Al Mubarak.
