The winners of the inaugural Construction Week Qatar Awards were announced at a gala ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha on Monday night.
A total of 17 awards were handed out across a range of individual, company and project categories, celebrating the cream of the industry in Qatar’s burgeoning construction market as it gears up for the 2022 FIFA Football World Cup.
Black Cat Engineering & Construction won Contractor of the Year, lauded by the judges as “a truly multi-disciplinary contractor capable of undertaking a range of projects.”

The contractor has been active in Qatar since the early 1980s. Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB) won Consultancy of the Year, and was praised by the judges as “an award-winning firm that does it all, with a truly inimitable portfolio.”
The Al Bidda Tower by GHD Global won Tower Project of the Year as “a striking addition to the Doha skyline”, with a unique rotating form that required considerable engineering and structural excellence.
Commercial Project of the Year went to Jaidah Square by Brookfield Multiplex Medgulf. The judges remarked that this eye-catching project made best use of its highly visible location on one of Doha’s busiest routes, Airport Road.
Infrastructure Project of the Year was won by Atkins for the Doha-Dukhan Highway, described by the judges as a project of national significance.
Osama Hadid from AlJaber Engineering won Construction Executive of the Year. Hadid “has successfully taken advantage of the decision to expand the country’s infrastructure for the World Cup, building up a strong portfolio.”
Engineer of the Year went to Qatar Society of Engineers chairman Ahmad Jassim Al Jolo as “a tireless advocate of the engineering profession.”
