FM is a people business and this must not be forgotten when implementing new technologies, said Adrian Jarvis, general manager, FSI FM Solutions.
The company was responsible for implementing a Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system for the Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi, and a number of other ADACH sites.
"The project itself was a huge management vision. It was something new to have a centralised tool brought in to the organisation. This was the first time any formal helpdesk was being brought into building services," said Jarvis.

He stressed that because of the personable nature of FM, it was important to ensure people understood why a CAFM system was present. People needed to be brought into the same vision - that the use of the software was very important.
"Technology is an enabler; don’t use it for technologies sake and don’t underestimate its impact on people. FM is a people business, this should not be forgotten by using technology," said Jarvis.
