Dubai’s second largest non-real estate project has crossed a vital infrastructural milestone.

A total of more than $160m has been invested in Dubai Industrial City over the past four years to create a comprehensive industrial base in the Emirate and the GCC region's leading manufacturing and logistics destination.

With three 132KV DEWA sub-stations already in operation in the city, construction of a fourth sub-station is currently in its final stage of completion.

More than 40km of new roads have also taken shape as part of the infrastructural work. Added to that, more than 139km of water lines, 189km of telecom ducts, 91km of storm and drainage lines, 80km of sewerage and 53km of irrigation lines have been constructed as part of this project.

"The steady progress of infrastructure work underscores our continued commitment to creating a robust industrial environment for our business partners,” said Abdullah Belhoul, Managing Director of Dubai Industrial City.

“It is also a testimony to the accelerating momentum we are witnessing among the industrial entities that wish to base their manufacturing and logistical activities at the destination.

“We expect the present project, which is part of a larger one covering the city, to cope with the future demand and growth of the destination.”

The power, water, sewage, irrigation and telecom work done at Dubai Industrial City covers an area of 15km2 of the eventual 55km2 project.

The 132 KV sub-stations are part of a series of 26 scheduled for construction across the city to meet the energy needs of on-site industrial factories and day-to-day operations.

The road network is intended to connect Dubai Industrial City’s six dedicated clusters of food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, as well as machinery and mechanical equipment.

Additionally, construction of a direct access roundabout on Emirates Road near the entrance of the industrial city has begun.

The roundabout, which is being constructed in association with the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA), will facilitate both civilian and commercial traffic into and around the industrial destination.

Dubai Industrial City is located on Emirates Road near the new Al Maktoum International Airport and was designed for its proximity to major highways and the Jebel Ali Port.

Dubai Industrial City is a member of TECOM Investments.
