Al Toaimi told CW that this area is an often overlooked, but essential, component of any construction project’s logistics.
“We are the only wireless communications provider in this sector in Saudi Arabia. It is fantastic to be acknowledged in this way, and we would like to thank CW for the recognition,” said Al Toaimi.
Saudi Lighting won the award for Product Innovation of the Year, with GM Khalid A. Al-Hobayb telling CW the win was a recognition of the company’s pioneering sustainability efforts in Saudi Arabia. “We always aim to be green, as the awareness is generally lacking in Saudi Arabia.
“Our first step in this direction was to acquire ISO14001. We are the first green lighting company in Saudi Arabia. It is an honour for us, and we are always on the lookout for equally green partners,” said Al-Hobayb.
Consultancy of the Year was awarded to the Sweett Group. Key account director Ramzi E. Nawfal told CW the award was a great privilege as it was acknowledgement of the group’s long involvement in Saudi Arabia.
“We are glad we have been recognised. Of course, it has not been easy, especially as a project management cost consultancy, the concept is new to Saudi Arabia.
“Most of the contracts are awarded traditionally, where the main architect and supervising engineer here cover all duties. I am glad that the added-value of our service provision has been appreciated.”
Specialist Contractor of the Year went to Abdulaziz AlSaghyir Commercial Investment Company. MD: construction Eng. Nazar A. AlSaghyir told CW: “We are very happy to have won this award, as specialist contractor is a crucial niche sector of the construction industry.” AlSaghyir said the company is a civil contractor with electromechanical expertise as well.
Steel Supplier of the Year was awarded to Rajhi Steel Industries Company. Marketing director Eng. Faisal Bin Edan told CW that the steel supply chain was a particular focus of the Saudi government at present as it embarked on major infrastructure projects, particularly in social housing, healthcare and education.
“The steel price is really crucial at the moment, and the government is doing its best to keep the price on a competitive level for the end user,” said Edan. “Steel suppliers like us play a crucial role in the construction industry, and this award is recognition of that fact.”
Interior Design and Decoration Company of the Year went to the Jazira Furnishing Company, a holding company comprising Jazira Interiors, Jazira Projects and KA International. A delighted deputy GM Mishaal O. Al Shathri told CW: “It is obviously a great honour to win this award. We have been in the business 25 years, and all the hard work and support of our clients has finally paid off.”
Al Shathri said that interior design, fit out and furnishing were all essential sectors of the construction industry in Saudi Arabia, as they made an important and critical contribution to overall build quality and lifecycle costing.
Project Build Company (PBC) won Fast Growing Company of the Year award. Procurement manager Eng. Mahmoud Al-Husseiny said the award was recognition of the company’s broad involvement in the construction industry in Saudi Arabia, ranging from complex to standalone projects from residential to commercial and industrial.
Industrial Project of the Year went to the Aluminium Products Company, whose central region sales manager Youssef N. Al-Ghutmah told CW the award “is a major achievement for us, and we are delighted to win on behalf of the entire company.”
