Snøhetta, the firm behind Egypt’s Bibliotheca Alexandrina, has submitted plans for a new Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The US$4.7m project is described as a ‘pavilion in a parkland setting’ and will feature a ‘soft timber’ interior and a concrete-clad exterior.
A number of famous architects have previously designed Maggie’s Centres, including Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Kisho Kurokawa and Rem Koolhaas.
A decision on the planning application is expected by early March 2012.
