Habash-Deir wins Phase 2 of Jordan's Abdali Mall

United Real Estate Company (URC) has announced the commencment of Phase 2 construction of the $95.8m Abdali Mall.

This is a 33,000m2 footprint project with a built-up area of 223,000m2 in the heart of Abdali, the new downtown area in Amman.

The contract has been awarded to Habash-Deir Contracting Company, one of the oldest construction businesses in Jordan. Its portfolio of projects includes the Dead Sea Panoramic Complex and the Prince Hamzeh Multi-purpose Sports Hall.

Once completed, Abdali Mall will house exclusive high-street brands, a multi-screen movie theatre, family entertainment centres, a selection of fine-dining restaurants, food courts and 2,500 parking spaces. The mall is due to open in Q1 2014.

URC CEO, Mohammed Ahmed Al Saqqaf, also chairman of Abdali Mall Company, said: "This milestone will escalate the leasing activities."

With about 75,067m2 of leasable area, this modern shopping mall will introduce a unique product to the market through a design that is molded around contextual architecture, showcasing open-air features that take advantage of the favorable weather year-round in Amman.
