The Dubai municipality has installed 14 new fog-monitoring stations in the emirate to warn motorists and prevent fog-related accident.
The first-of-its-kind automated monitors in the country, including five on various coasts, will improve visibility information on land and sea in the emirate.
"These stations give a warning when we have fog in the city, especially in the main roads and highways," said Hussein Nasser Lootah, director general of the municipality.
The stations will provide vital data about visibility on Dubai's roads, and facilitate advance warning in the event of fog. The stations measure meteorological parameters such as soil temperature and humidity at three different depths.
