While smart systems and controls are great to have, it’s the FM team that guarantees a building will run more efficiently, said Johnson Controls.
The company, which recently secured a $14m contract for the total building operations and maintenance at Doha City Centre, said in an exclusive interview with fmME, that facilities management teams were key to driving a building’s efficiency.
"Facilities Management teams are the guys sitting in the building and putting in the logic. They understand the customer’s business model also in terms of how he/she wants the building to be operated and be more efficient. If you put the smart building in place but not the right logic behind it based on the customer’s business model, it won’t mean anything," said Azzam Messaykeh.
"The controls; making sure they are operating efficiently, is really the role of the FM in these buildings. It is them who will be able to optimise the smart building operations," he added.
