Bahrain Bay, the country's $2.5bn masterplanned waterfront community, has appointed a new CEO, it said on Sunday.

Robert Lee, a former senior executive with Emaar, Nakheel and Al Futtaim, has been appointed to lead the next phase in the project.

Lee joins Bahrain Bay with 25 years of real estate investment experience including development, investment, sales and marketing, asset management, and advisory, a statement said.

Since arriving in the Gulf in early 2000, Lee has held several senior executive positions and was instrumental in bringing iconic projects, such as Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah, to fruition.

"I'm proud to have this opportunity to continue to establish Bahrain Bay as the premier real estate project in the country" said Lee.

"I plan to unite all stakeholders under a common vision and continue to deliver the top-level results Bahrain Bay is renowned for, within the time-budget-quality constraints."

Lee replaces former CEO Bob Vincent, who will continue to work closely with Bahrain Bay in his new role with Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.

Bahrain Bay is the Kingdom of Bahrain's first master-planned mixed-use waterfront community, situated off the north-east coast of the capital Manama.

It has three anchor developments - Four Seasons Bahrain, Arcapita Headquarters, and Raffles City Bahrain.

It was launched in 2006, and is scheduled for a multi-phase completion with initial phases to start being completed from 2012.
