The Dubai Metro has three depots for maintenance and cleaning of trains.

The Al Rashidiya depot carries out the maintenance and cleaning for 79 trains used on the Dubai Metro. These comprise 62 trains used on the Red Line and 17 trains deployed on the Green Line.
“All trains are subject to maintenance every three days,” explained Adnan Al Hamadi from the depot. He briefed RTA executive director H.E. Mattar Al Tayer and director or rail operations Ramadan Abdullah and director of rail maintenance Ali bin Abdul Qadir during a recent visit to the depot.
Work carried out includes visual inspection of the rail carriages from inside and outside. A specific technical inspection is carried out for carriages every three months, six months and one year.
The trains are washed externally once every three days, while internal cleaning is carried out on a daily basis.

At the end of each train journey, workers carry out express cleaning of carriages. Workers deployed at the Al Rashidiya depot on the Red Line include three engineers, 30 technicians, six team heads, while 15 engineers and technicians are distributed at the various stations of the Red Line.
Facilities at the Al Rashidiya depot include gantries and advanced electronic systems, allowing staff to handle the maintenance of three trains at a time.
The depot is also fitted with air-conditioning and an advanced fire-fighting system. Al Tayer reviewed the safety aspects in place, and the provision of security and safety for Dubai Metro staff.
