Msheireb Properties’ $5.5bn Downtown Doha mixed-use project is unlikely to be impeded by the real-estate crash.
“We are not Dubai,” Turner International Middle East (TiME) logistics manager Rikk Calandros told CW, referring to the bursting of the property bubble in Dubai.
“The decision for this project was based on plans developed several years ago. There is a vision for this country of where it is going, and it is marching steadfastly towards that vision,” said Calandros.
Apart from its contribution to the Qatar National Vision 2030, the Downtown Doha project also formed part of Qatar’s successful 2022 World Cup bid.
Msheireb Properties CEO Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi revealed that the project would shortly be unveiling the long-lease strategy for the retail component of Phase 1b, as well as announcing the operators for three major hotels.
