A Pakistani national was killed on a quarry site on Sunday, when part of a hill he was excavating collapsed on top of him in Al Rams, Ras Al Khaimah.
Two other men, also Pakistani nationals, were seriously injured in the accident, which saw boulders tumble down on the victims and their tractor following blasting in the area.
“It was very shocking. The rocks collapsed during stone blasting and fell on the man, who was operating a tractor,” Mohammed Abbas, a witness who was working nearby, told Dubai newspaper 7Days.

“(The) two other men were also hit by the rocks and were stuck under the boulders for some minutes before the rescue teams arrived,” he added.
The injured men were rushed to hospital in critical condition, Colonel Suleiman Mohammed Al Kizi, chief of the Al Rams Police station, said. He added that both were suffering from severe head and chest injuries.
He added that some digging equipment and trucks at the site were also badly damaged. Al Kizi said that the matter would be fully investigated.
Furthermore, he warned all quarry owners to ensure that they provide their workers with safe conditions to operate in.
