The Al Habtoor Group has released artist impressions of its new $1.33bn hotel and entertainment complex on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The images of the Habtoor Palace Hotel show a luxurious set-up with a range of facilities.
According to the Al Habtoor group, the complex will provide a ‘lifestyle’ experience with a five-star spa, a sports academy, multiple themed restaurants, meeting facilities, a shopping arcade and a theatre showing productions from Broadway and Las Vegas. Once completed, the complex will be one of the region’s most luxurious hotel and entertainment developments. It will be built on the property that is currently housing the Metropolitan Hotel opposite Al Safa Park. The 34-year-old Metropolitan Hotel, one of dubai’s first hotels, will be demolished to make way for the new development.
“Parting with the Metropolitan Hotel, our first hospitality venture is not easy as it is filled with great memories, but I always believe in looking forward. The tourism industry in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai in particular, is constantly and steadily growing, and we have to be prepared to cater for the growing need of its visitors and residents alike," says Al Habtoor Group's chairman Mr Khalaf Al Habtoor.
Construction will start in the first quarter of this year and is expected to be completed within four years. The project’s concept design architect will be John R. Harris & Partners and the lead design consultants will be from Khatib & Alami Consolidated Engineering Company.
