In other developments in the local chemical industry, Mapei, a leading global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for the construction industry, has unveiled its innovative Ultralite S1 cementitious adhesive.
This new product has been specially-formulated by Mapei to complement the growing practice of sustainability under challenging construction situations, according to the company.
The material’s formulation provides both ease of installation, while also ensuring the health of workers. Another feature is the Ultralite Technology giving Ultralite S1 an extremely low density, thus making a bag of the product 10kg lighter compared to a bag of conventional cementitious adhesive. It also enables a 60% higher yield compared to conventional Mapei cementitious adhesives.
The next-generation adhesive is highly suitable for bonding all types and sizes of ceramic tiles and natural stones on internal and external surfaces, as well as thin porcelain gres tiles on floors and walls, including external façades.
“Ultralite S1 particularly reflects our full commitment to products that deliver optimal sustainability and efficiency. It also shows our focus on novel chemistry, coupled with the latest in manufacturing techniques to develop pioneering products that suit prevailing market needs,” said IBS-Mapei Stefano Iannacone.
Mapei is well-known for its range of adhesives and sealants used to install ceramic, natural stone and other finishes such as wooden, PVC and sports flooring. The company has been involved in some of the most challenging construction projects in the UAE, including the Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa, Emirates Palace Hotel, the Grand Mosque, Qasr El Sarab resort, Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Ferrari World and Dubai International Airport’s Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
