Saudi signs 41 road contracts worth over $790m

Jabara Al-Seraisry, Saudi Arabia’s Transport Minister, has signed 41 road contracts worth more than $790m (SAR 3bn), Arab News reports.

The Minister said the new road projects, which cover developments valued at $56.8m (SAR 213m) in the Makkah province, including the first phase of the second ring road in Jeddah as well as Jabal Sharqi and Jabal Thudair roads in Muzdalifah, have been approved in the current national budget.

Referring to the new road contracts in Madinah, the minister said they include construction of Madinah-Al-Ula Expressway at a cost of $37.3m (SAR 140m), with new road projects in the province costing a total $71.5m (SAR 268m).

According to a Saudi Press Agency report, the Riyadh province will see new road projects worth $75.2m (SAR 282m), including Dharma-Shaqra-Dawadmi-Afeef Road and another road linking the Riyadh-Dammam Expressway.

Four contracts worth $29.9m (SAR 112m) have been signed for the Eastern Province, while the Qassim Province will see two projects worth $117.6m (SAR 441m), including part of Jubail-Qassim Expressway.

Al-Seraisry also signed five contracts valued at $93m (SAR 348.5m) for the Asir province including Fursha-Rabua-Jalaba-Dhahran Al-Janoub Road. In Tabuk, road projects worth $78.4m (SAR 294m) will be implemented, including part of Madinah-Tabuk Expressway.

Further contracts have been signed for the construction of the $93m (SAR 259m) Hail-Madinah Road; Abu Hadariya-Hafr Al-Baten-Rafha Road at the cost of $37.3m (SR 140 million); Shuqaiq-Tiwal Expressway at $37.1m (SR 139 million); Rain-Bisha Road at $53.1m (SR 199 million) that will link Baha with Riyadh Road; and the intersection of King Abdullah Road with Qaeth Road in Al-Jouf at a cost $27.7m (SR 104 million).
