Arabian Construction Company (ACC) has topped out the completed structure for the ‘Reem Diamond’, a Hong Kong-backed ten-storey luxury apartment tower on Abu Dhabi’s Al Reem Island.

The ACC project was commissioned by Hong Kong’s Chun Wo Development Holdings in the construction conglomerate's first investment in the UAE.

The topping out ceremony was attended by the both the Chinese ambassador to the UAE and dignitaries from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The building will have a total usable floorspace of 5,730m2 and house 48 sea-view apartment units, with plans tailored to the need of purchasing individuals. At the very top of the residential building will be an infinity sky pool.

For Architect Anthony Poon, director of property development at Chun Wo, the project - first discussed in 2007 - is just the beginning of ambitions for the UAE:

“Our passion for excellence and quality eventually led us to the property development sector, where for the past 15 years we have excelled in Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China and Vietnam. In 2007 we added another page to our rich history in Abu Dhabi.”

“The Reem Diamond is our crowning glory in our quest to bring our unique brand of construction and property development to Abu Dhabi,” said Poon.

Like several other developments currently underway on Al Reem Island the currently land bound project will eventually find the earth around it excavated and inundated by the surrounding sea.

The timing of the topping-out as a construction milestone also confirms that the project is on track for its intended mid-2013 completion.

“We are proud to be among the top five construction firms in Hong Kong. We have done quite a few large-scale core infrastructure works and construction projects for the Hong Kong Government, and we have a footprint in 11 major cities across five countries," added Poon.

The Reem Diamond will be officialy owned by Chun Wo subsidiary Smartwill Asia, and is part of the Shams Abu Dhabi Master Development.

In the Reem Diamond as a strategic development Chun Wo is hoping to gain a firmer foothold in the Middle East, now a market of considerable interest to the organisation.

Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited has been undertaking large-scale and diverse construction projects for 44 years.

Among its key property development and construction markets are Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Vietnam, and the People’s Republic of China.
