A three-day family festival is set to be held to mark the unveiling of the new home of Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ain.

The new 25,000-seat Hazza Bin Zayed stadium will be officially opened during the festival, which takes place from 16-18 January.

The stadium covers an area of 45,000m2 and is over 50m high, making it one of the tallest structures in Al Ain City. It has 3,000 premium seats and a mobile roof which can cover the stadium during the hot summer period.

It forms the centrepiece of a wider development covering over 500,000m2, which will include a 172-room hotel, space for up to 50 restaurants, two office buildings containing over 20,000m2 and a residential community with 700 units in a complex of apartments.

The stadium has been designed by architects Pattern Design and was built by main contractor BAM International in 17 months, with EC Harris as project manager.

The remainder of the development will be completed in phases and will include a number pf sports zones including a dedicated pool and gymnasium which will be one of the largest in the Abu Dhabi emirate. It is also surrounded by walking, cycling and jogging tracks.
