The Viera meeting room is back painted glass to give it the impression of a plasma screen.
Panasonic's new regional headquarters embodies the brand's modern image.
Designing the headquarters to one of the world's top electrical brands is no mean feat.
So when Huget Design was approached to pitch for the interiors of Panasonic's latest Middle East headquarters in Jebel Ali Free Zone, they knew that they had to come up with something that would fit with the brand's sleek and modern image.
With no specific design brief to follow, the company put forward an ultra-modern design for one of the meeting rooms, replicating the look of Panasonic's award-winning Viera Plasma and won the contract.
Kunal Lahori, lead designer on the project and director of Huget Design explains how the brand dominated the eventual direction the interior design was to take.
"Whenever we are required to design for a brand that faces scales of consumer interaction, you have to treat it like an entity or persona with a public image that has to be understood carefully. Thus we took a two-fold approach, which involved studying the brand personality as well as studying its origin. This blend gave us an interesting playing field wherein the brand inspired innovative design and cutting-edge technology and a Japanese culture that influenced the creation of balanced spaces."
As part of the conglomerate Palmon Group and a turnkey provider with design, manufacturing and project management services, Huget Design was responsible for designing the entire property.
This encompassed the interiors, exterior and landscaping of the 50,000 ft2 facility, as well as the execution.
"Our scope initially was to design and execute the interiors. The building itself was under construction and shaped like a box so we suggested certain exterior design elements to give it more characteristics and hide the fact that the building entrance was slightly off centre," says Lahori.
