Ghantoot Group and Sheikh Suroor Projects Department are partnering on a new $234mn (AED860mn) resort on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

Due to be completed by the end of 2017, the resort will feature a low-rise 295-room hotel comprised of four wings, a standalone spa and wellness centre, gymnasium, as well as meeting rooms.

The Saadiyat Island Resort Development Project will also include 11 luxury two-story villas, including one exclusive private villa.

DBI Design, the architects behind the Etihad Towers development in Abu Dhabi, is designing the resort.

"The Saadiyat Island Resort will be a world-class luxury destination at the heart of the UAE's capital and is the latest in SSPD's long line of developments, all aimed at creating regional landmarks with the utmost quality,” said SSPD projects director Eng. Sami Al Khuwaiter.
