Leminar Air Conditioning Industries (LAI), part of the Al Shirawi group, has broken ground on the construction of its $27.2mn (AED100mn) ductwork fabrication facility in Dubai Industrial City.

The 325,000ft2 development is set to be one of the largest duct fabrication facilities in the world.

It will include fully automated duct line machines, spiral duct manufacturing, acoustic attenuators production, along with manufacturing fire dampers and other duct related accessories.

Present at the ground breaking ceremony were Navin Valrani, CEO of LAI; Dipak Bhadra, general manager of LAI; Saud Abu Alshawareb, executive director – Partner Relation, DIC; Ali Dawood, executive director – Operations, DIC; and Pankaj Gandhi, MD of Honest Constructions, the main contractor managing the construction of the facility.

Valrani said: “This new factory will set a new benchmark for duct manufacturing in the Middle East and will further seal Leminar’s position as the dominant player in the industry.

“Our investment is a reflection of the confidence we have in Dubai Industrial City and in the city of Dubai.”

DIC is spread across 560mn ft2. The anticipated completion date of the entire project is February 2015, at which point it will host a selection of the best manufacturing processes in the field of HVAC duct manufacturing, serving customers locally and all across the UAE.

Bhadra added: “Leminar is focused on strengthening its business and with our new factory we are confident that it will accelerate our production within and allow us to meet the increasing demand that we are anticipating in the UAE in the years to come.”
