facilities management Middle East Awards winners announced

On Monday night, the first facilities management Middle East Awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai, to reward and recognise the industry.

There were 15 awards presented with ADNH Compass, Nakheel and BK Gulf Facilities Management each taking home more than one accolade.

Patrick Frayne, ADNH Compass picked up the largest award of the night, Facilities Manager of the Year, for his work at Yas Island Worker's Community.

Speaking straight after the presentation, Frayne said: "I'm shocked! I wasn't expecting it at all. This award is for the guys I work with and that's where it's going."

Through ADNH Compass' product, Village Life, and Frayne's passion to improve camp conditions, he has transformed the camp into a community.

Services on site include a gym, barbers, supermarket and two recreational areas that allow residents to watch TV, play pool or table tennis and catch-up with fellow colleagues and friends in the ‘Chowpatti teashop'.

The facilities management Middle East Awards were judged by an independent judging panel: Kit Ord, a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers; Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, CEO of Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory Authority; Sean Cronin, past Construction Week editor and current editor of Arabian Business and Becca Wilson, editor of facilities management Middle East.

Judges chose shortlists from the 60 plus entries and then discussed, debated and deliberated the shortlists until winners were decided.
