Egypt-based Arab Contractors will finalise works on a new $78.7m (EGP600m) Suez power plant early next year, it was announced.

The plant, due for operation in the beginning of 2016, is a part of the Egyptian government's five-year scheme.

Arab Contractors will carry out all civil works; construct the plant's buildings; and, prepare designs incorporating systems to protect the plant's facilities from fire dangers, local daily Amwal Alghad reported.

The firm will also be in charge of drilling and infrastructure works for the plant, Salah said, adding the company has "accelerated works on the plant to deliver it within the determined timeframe".
