0.00 What does your role involve?

As the operations director for Emrill, I have overall responsibility to deliver a safe and efficient service to our customers. I work with our brilliant team to continuously develop, innovate and maintain the Emrill standard of service excellence for all of our customers.

1.45 What do you love most about your job?

Developing value partnerships with our customers, ensuring we deliver quality services which often exceeds expectations and constantly innovating our service to lead the industry. I really enjoy supporting the growth of the team and developing them to be the best through our rigorous training programmes. Recognising their efforts through client awards, feedback, industry awards, contract retention and new contracts is very fulfilling and a joy to celebrate with them.

2.05 What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

The FM industry remains challenging with the current economic climate putting pressure on the providers to deliver services that are even more cost effective and efficient. By focusing on innovation and our standards of service, we drive value in a variety of ways for our clients and the end user. On the other hand, staff retention and the development of people at all levels of the business is imperative to maintain high standards.

3.00 What has been your most memorable project and why?

Etihad Airways is a truly memorable contract where we deliver integrated FM services for their head office and several corporate, residential and office premises. It is a true partnership between Emrill and Etihad Airways, driving forward service excellence for the aviation sector.

4.05 Where do you see the FM industry in five years?

I see FM increasingly driven by technology, a field Emrill continue to innovate in with systems such as our unique e-manage data interrogation and reporting solution. We are already seeing a significant increase in the use of output scope contracts where results are measured by quality of services delivered rather than headcount deployed. This will allow further investment in people and technology to increase the efficiency and value of services delivered for all industry stakeholders.

4.45 What do you like to do in your spare time?

Most of my time away from work is spent with my wife and we both enjoy talking long lake side walks with our two Dachshunds. Previously I have been a keen dinghy sailor, something I hope to take up again soon in the UAE.
