The tender process for construction of Dubai Properties’ Culture Village hotel will commence at the beginning of next year, the developer has said.
The awarding of the contract has been delayed due to design alterations. The project, known as “Residential 2,” is the final stage of the US $13 billion (AED50 billion) Culture Village development.
The development has been broken down into five projects, including the Culture Village Souk and Residential 1.
A Dubai Properties spokesman told Construction Week, “Enabling work has been completed in all phases of the Souq project.”
With regard to Residential 1, the spokesman said that “all the excavation and shoring are progressing, whereby the main piles design was submitted to Tecom for approval.”
All enabling work is being carried out by APCC.
The construction contract for the Souq was awarded to Ascon, while Sun Engineering Contracting was awarded the Residential 1 contract.
Completion of the Culture Village is scheduled for 2010. It will be located at the side of Dubai Creek, between Al Garhoud Bridge and Business Bay Bridge.
Residential, commercial and retail districts within the project are being developed by 15 private developers.
