by Neha Bhatia on Apr 5, 2016Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Saudi Arabia on an official visit, visited construction workers while in the Kingdom.
L&T is part of a consortium constructing Saudi's Riyadh Metro project.
His visit comes on the heels of a labour agreement inked between both countries.
Modi met with workers at the L&T workers' residential complex in Riyadh.
"Your hard work has brought me here," Modi said to the workers, the Indian government's Press Information Bureau said.
He is said to have shared a meal with the workers, and spent time with them to hear their "thoughts and experiences".
In a previous joint statement issued on Modi's official website, it was revealed that a labour agreement concerning General Category Workers has been inked.
The statement continued: "[The leaders] welcomed the signing of an agreement on labour cooperation for recruitment of General Category Workers."
According to India's Financial Times, this agreement has been signed by Saudi's labour ministry, and India's ministry of external affairs.
Additional details about the agreement are yet to be revealed.
