The Minister of Water and Electricity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Abdullah Al Hussayen signed a contract worth US $291 million (SAR1.09 billion) contract with three companies. The deal was to complete and execute the third phase of the new desalination plant in Jeddah, which has the capacity to supply 240,000 cubic metres of water daily.
The contract was won by the Korean Doosan Heavy Industries Construction Doosan Hydro Technology and Saudi Berkefeld Company.
The project would be completed within 36 months, adding that it would meet the growing water requirements in Jeddah.
