Mohammad Al-Mojil Group’s (MMG) Adel Al-Mojil has released a video statement protesting his family’s innocence.

During the course of his statement, Adel, the son of MMG’s founder Mohammad Al-Mojil, says that he and his father have been scapegoated in the entire process, and that they did absolutely nothing wrong.

Following a long-running legal battle with Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA), Adel and Mohammad Al-Mojil were each sentenced to five years in prison in June 2016.

Imposed by the CMA’s Committee for the Resolution of Securities Disputes (CRSD), Messrs Al-Mojil and one other MMG executive received custodial terms for misrepresenting the contractor’s value.

However, the Al-Mojil family strongly deny any wrongdoing, and have brought legal proceedings against Protiviti Member Firm (Middle East) Ltd in relation to a report used by the prosecution.

In the following video, Adel Al-Mojil protests his family’s innocence, and asserts that MMG has become a scapegoat for wider problems that are affecting Saudi Arabia’s construction sector.
