Al Sharjah Contracting Company has been awarded the US $11 million (AED41 million) contract by Al Hanoo Holding to complete the surfacing of the roads surrounding the clients’ Emirates Industrial City project in Sharjah.

Al Hanoo Holding and Emirates Industrial City (EIC) chairman Sheik Abdullah bin Fahid Al Shakrah said the contract was awarded to Al Sharjah Contracting Company “due to the company’s vast experience and precision in completing similar projects in the past.”

“The road network surrounding the project has been carefully designed and studied by engineering officers specialised in traffic planning,” Al Shakrah said.

“The final designs were certified to ensure easy mobility, traffic safety, and easy flow inside and around the project.”

EIC is a joint-stock company between Al Hanoo Holding, Abudullah Al Zamil Co, Muhammad Abdul Aziz Co, Al Saeedan Properties and Kal Development.

The firm specialises in the development of industrial cities and other real estate sectors.

Emirates Industrial City project is an 8 million square metres development geared towards light and medium industries. It is located a short distance from Sharjah airport, and is intended to serve seaports, airports and free zones across the UAE.

“The planning and distribution of areas within the project serves as a balance between those spaces specified for sale purposes and roads in the project,” Al Shakrah said.

According to Al Hanoo Holding, the necessary services have been made available for the project including electricity, water, communications frameworks, and fuel, gas and surrounding road networks.

The Emirate of Sharjah has enjoyed a steady flow of construction activity of late, including December’s announcement of Hydra Village Sharjah by Hydra Properties, a mixed-use project intended to accommodate up to 50,000 residents.
