Al-Futtaim Motors, the distributor of Toyota and Lexus in the UAE and official transport partner of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, has begun testing Toyota’s Mirai fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in the UAE.

Bertrand Thiebaut, senior MD for Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “Late last year, we announced our intention to drive the implementation of new sustainable technologies in the UAE’s motoring market and revealed our plans to start testing Toyota’s latest technology, the Fuel Cell Vehicle in the UAE.

“Since then, the pilot consisting of testing the Toyota Mirai FCV has kicked-off successfully, cementing our commitment towards a better and cleaner tomorrow. Our message for many years has been that hybrid is the answer to the country’s sustainable mobility question.”

Al-Futtaim Motors is now showcasing the zero-emission hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai at its stand for the week-long exhibition, as well as a model hydrogen filling station, similar to the ones being built by Air Liquide, Al-Futtaim Motors’ partner in the pilot.
