Qatar's Ashghal to build new interchangeby Kim Kemp on Mar 19, 2017
Construction is due to start on a new multi-level interchange on the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.
Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, will start upgrading the existing roundabout.
New routes for the four loops will be available on Sunday, 19 March until the required revamp comes to a close, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
The new multi-level interchange is set to open 2018, and will increase the existing road capacity from three lanes to five lanes in each direction.
Road users travelling from Lusail to Doha will have to drive west across the bridge towards Salwa Road and make a U-turn at the first roundabout, before taking the right turn exit towards Doha.
Travelling from Salwa Road to Al Ruwais, motorists will now drive east across the bridge towards Lusail, make a U-turn at the first roundabout, before taking the right turn exit towards Al Ruwais.
Ashghal stated that there will be no other changes to the existing travel routes between Doha, Al Ruwais, Lusail, and Salwa Road
