New chairman appointed for Dubai Holdingby Jumana Abdel-Razzaq on Mar 20, 2017
Abdulla al-Habbai has been chosen as the new chairman of Dubai Holding by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, according to reports on Sunday.
Al-Habbai replaced Mohammed Abdullah al-Gergawi, who resigned last month after heading the company for the last 14 years, Dubai Media Office reported.
Al Gergawi will continue to focus on his duties in the government as the Minister of Cabinet Affairs. In addition to his new role, Al-Habbai will also remain group charmian of Meeras Holding.
HH Sheikh Mohammed said: “As a business leader who has steered major projects that have contributed to realising Dubai’s and the UAE’s growth vision, Abdulla Al Habbai is ideally placed to lead Dubai Holding in its next phase of growth.
“He has a proven record of successfully delivering projects that have supported the development of key sectors. I am confident that his extensive experience and expertise will enable him to steer Dubai Holding in achieving new levels of industry development and innovation.”
With an expansive project pipeline that includes Jumeirah Central, Mall of the World, and Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Holding currently manages a $35bn (AED130bn) portfolio of assets.
