MEP engineers have to be more flexible in order to secure employment in today’s highly competitive market, an MEP recruitment expert has stressed.
Budge Recruitment senior MEP consultant Fabian Garcia revealed: “The general trend coming through here from MEP engineers is them being more open and flexible in regard to everything from salary expectations to working location and position within the companies.”
Garcia also reported that resume numbers have risen in the past few months and clients are now less willing to negotiate salary packages, due to the economic downturn.
“Activity levels from engineers seeking employment have risen dramatically, six to seven months ago we would be chasing them and clients would be willing to negotiate salary packages etc to secure employees. Resume numbers have risen and candidates are making the effort to then follow up on their applications,” Garcia added.
Many firms have made redundancies in the Middle East recently as construction projects are either delayed or cancelled.
Garcia concluded: “People who are highly skilled and experience are having to take a good look at where they are now and how they are going to ride this downturn. This is coming from engineers who are both currently employed and one’s who have been made redundant.”
