The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON), in collaboration with the Saudi Electricity Company, launched the power supply service with a capacity of 1000MVA at the central transmission station in Al-Kharj Industrial City.

The service was launched to meet the industrial demand for electricity.

Eng. Khalid Al Salem, acting director general of MODON, said the Authority has invested $170m (SR640m) in the transmission station and in the dual aerial line projects.

According to Saudi Gazette, the project includes design works, construction of buildings and design, manufacture, supply, installation and testing of all the required equipment in the project, as well as the protection and communication modification works at the terminal.

The implementation of the electrical circuits in the industrial city is ongoing, with four electrical circuits being completed.

The Al-Kharj Industrial City was established in 2009 on a total area of 9900ha.
