The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has opened the registration for its 2018 Winter Conference, which is taking place from 20-24 January, in Chicago, Illinois.

The event will include eight conference tracks, tours, social events, and a technical programme comprising more than 200 presentations and 300 speakers.

It will also feature a keynote message from Debbie Sterling, founder and chief executive officer of GoldieBlox, a children’s multimedia company that seeks to challenge gender stereotypes by developing what it claims to be the world’s first girl engineer character.

According to ASHRAE, conference attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest issues in the building industry, with tracks on sector trends in resiliency and modelling throughout a building’s life cycle, as well as tracks addressing specific disciplines, such as tall buildings and heat exchangers.

Attendees will also have the chance to participate in seminars that ASHRAE Leaning Institute (ALI) will offer during the conference. These seminars will cover topics like the commissioning process in new and existing buildings, high-performance building design, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, and designing toward net-zero energy buildings.

ASHRAE revealed that the conference’s expo show floor will be divided into three product sections: a building automation and control showcase; a software centre for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR)-related applications; and the Indoor Air Quality Association Pavilion.

Registration for the AHR Expo, happening from 22-24 January, 2017, is also now open. AHR Expo is an event co-sponsored by ASHRAE and the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).
