Drake and Scull International has revealed ambitious growth plans, as it announces its biggest infrastructure, water and power (IWP) project to date.
The firm, which listed on the Dubai Financial Market on Monday morning, recently announced an AED596 million design and build contract for a 65,000 tonne district cooling plant in Durrat Al Bahrain.
“Currently we have projects in the UAE, Oman, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and the Bahrain one that was recently announced. IWP is currently around 35% of the turnover. The target is to expand more than 25-50% a year.” said DSI executive director of IWP Tawfiq Abu Soud.
Abu Soud added that the firm is currently bidding for more work: “We do not have any power projects currently but we are bidding for three projects that have prime power generation on site ranging between 40-50MW. We are only tendering for that.

“We have been invited to bid in projects in water, district cooling and sewerage treatment. We are pre-qualified to bid so we are trying to position ourselves in all of these fields.”
The Durrat Al Bahrain project includes reticulation pipe work, an energy transfer station and metering systems.
Work on the plant will begin in September this year and is expected to take five years to complete.
