Introduce your company

Energi People is a privately owned, UK-based recruitment company, established in 2002. It is proud to have established itself as a regional leader and expert within the GCC MEP recruitment sector for over 14 years. I lead the international recruitment team for Energi People and have recruited within the MEP sector within the GCC for 10+ years. Energi People has unrivalled knowledge of the industry having forged longstanding relationships with the majority of the MEP sectors top contractors and consultancies, based on mutual trust and results! Although Energi People is UK-based, I and my team travel to the UAE and other regions every 6 to 12 weeks to meet with clients and candidates, as part of their commitment to the industry and to gain a greater understanding of their candidates and clients’ needs and to always keep fully up to speed with the local market.

What was your main motivation for signing up as a sponsor this year?

We have sponsored and attended for three consecutive years. We feel it is very important to be involved and to stay at the forefront of the MEP industry and it’s always great to see engineers of all levels receiving recognition for their relentless hard work and achievements in the region on some incredibly innovative and very challenging projects, in what has been a really tough market. The awards have always been a great opportunity to network and to forge new business relationships.

What are you looking forward to the most at the awards this year?

It is a great platform to celebrate everyone’s success in the industry, a number of engineers I have personally secured employment for over the years have won awards, or have been nominated, which is always great to see them being recognised for their achievements. I hope to see a few more on stage again this year!

What are your company’s future plans?

To continue to offer a high level recruitment service to our clients and steadily grow globally across various sectors. We also have aspirations to setup an office in Dubai in the next 12-18 months.

How is the market shaping up? What market trends have you noticed this year?

After a tough few months, the market seems to be moving in the right direction across the UAE with various iconic projects being awarded. There is still a big demand for BIM and a real shortage of talented BIM staff, who understand the full engineering aspects & benefits of BIM for the design team and the end-user. Over the past six months, there have been many high level individuals who have moved companies in the region.

What are the main opportunities and challenges in the market?

The market has been very challenging over the past 12 months. There has however been a lot of positivity in seeing a steady increase in the growth of small-to-medium engineering consultancies over the past year across the GCC. The release of further projects for Expo 2020 in Dubai should see a lot of opportunities available for many of the regions consultancies and contractors over the coming 12-18 months. There will always be challenges in finding the right calibre of individuals, which is of course why we are here!
