BK Gulf won the Health and Safety Initiative of the Year at the 2017 MEP Middle East Awards.

In the last 12 months BK Gulf continued its significant strides in perfecting its HSE performance where achieving millions of man-hours without a reportable incident became the norm.

One project alone recorded 8 million man-hours without any lost days. BK Gulf has built on the exceptional performance of previous years by introducing the ‘You Promised’ initiative.

The You Promised initiative complimented BK Gulf Golden Rules introduced in 2015 to remind everyone of their obligation towards their family and society by being safety.

You Promised is an overarching initiative for number of events that have been held throughout the year which was based on three pillars: training; health; and cooperate social responsibility CSR.

In the last 12 months. BK Gulf carried out over 346,450 hours of safety training.

This training was put into practice by introducing pictorial method statements and risk assessments to simplify the understanding of complex installations tasks and improve comprehension of associated risks.

Accepting the award was the HSEQ manager, Graham Milligam. He said: “We have always put health and safety at the forefront of everything. So this is an achievement by the company as a whole."
