The inaugural edition of DCCA's World Health and Safety Day Awards was held in April last year.

The Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA) has announced that it will be holding a workshop for project managers at Dubai Knowledge Park on 17 January, 2018.

The workshop is in preparation for this year’s World Health and Safety Day Awards, an event that DCCA will be hosting on 26 April.

In a statement, the regulatory body revealed that the workshop, for which registration is free and open until 16 January to all HSE officers within DCCA's jurisdiction, will cover the awards nomination process, as well as the eligibility and selection criteria.

DCCA added that it will open nominations for the awards event “soon”.

Launched last year, DCCA’s 2017 World Health and Safety Day event saw five awards recognising best HSE practices handed out to contractors working in any of the nine clusters under the DCCA umbrella.

These clusters are Dubai Internet City, Dubai Outsource City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Knowledge Park, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Science Park, and Dubai Design District.

The winning companies were Al Rostamani Pegel, which won for best practices in management systems; Seidco General Contracting LLC for best practices in equipment safety; HLG Contracting for best practices in people safety; and Khansaheb Civil Engineering LLC for best practices in work environment safety.

Mehran Shehzad of Modern Building Contracting Company, meanwhile, won best HSE officer.
