Going live at this year's CID Awards

I’ve already got a folder full of emails enquiring about this year’s CID Awards. Excitingly, many of these are from smaller, lesser known design firms – in a few cases, names that I haven’t come across before – which means that this year’s awards ceremony could be the most diverse showcase of ideas, personalities and projects yet.

It was always our intention to organise an event that demonstrates the full breadth of the region’s design industry; an event that does justice to the spectrum of work being undertaken in this part of the world, and that pays tribute to the smaller, emerging players, as well as the established, household names. The CID Awards 2009 can be all of that... as long as you get your nominations in on time.
 
You can’t accuse us of not giving you enough time to prepare. The awards are taking place on November 15 and the website has already gone live. The quality of the project should be reflected in the quality of the entry, so we’re giving you plenty of time to get organised.

We’ve also streamlined the nomination process to help ensure that you do your entry justice. This year, we’re asking you to answer a series of short questions to make sure that the judges get all the information they need – and are comparing apples with apples, rather than prickly pears.

In an attempt to make sure that we are highlighting every facet of design, we’ve also introduced a number of new award categories. This year, we’ll hand out a Best Outdoor Design of the Year award, as well as a new award celebrating intelligent and effective use of lighting within an interior space.

In addition, for the first time we’ll be introducing a Reader’s Choice Award, encouraging CID readers and award entrants to vote for their preferred interior contractor. Promoting greater community involvement, we’re asking you, the experts, to tell us who deserves to be recognised.
