Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW) is pressing ahead with road building and other construction projects despite the downturn, the department’s undersecretary said.
Abdulaziz Al Klaib told local media reporters that the ministry has already carried out some 511 projects, costing an estimated US $13 billion (KD3.8 billion), with more in the pipeline
The construction of the 920-bed Sheikh Jaber Hospital is currently being planned, as are 108 new road projects, 45 sanitary engineering works, 87 maintenance service deals and 271 general construction projects.

The Arab Times reported that Al Klaib said that the contract for the 4th Ring Road had been referred to Kuwait Municipality for its input on how the works should be carried out.
Al Klaib also said a project to build the Sheikh Jaber Bridge is likely to be raised in August, once the tender’s documentation is completed.
