The UAE's American University of Sharjah (AUS) is launching a master's degree in construction management, and has also received approvals to launch a PhD programme in engineering systems management.

These details were revealed during Construction Week's video interview with AUS's engineering head.

In Chapter 2 of Construction Week's The Education Series, Dr Richard T Schoephoerster, professor and dean of engineering at AUS, tells Construction Week about the new master's degree, and how it will fulfil a market gap that the university is noticing in the local construction sector.

Schoephoerster also outlines how the university crafts its programmes to keep them market-driven, and relevant for local construction industry professionals.

The Education Series is a collection of three video interviews with Schoephoerster, who outlines AUS's work in the construction education sector as it completes 20 years in the UAE, as well as the renowned institution's future plans.
