The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), in partnership with the Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) Middle East, recently organised a seminar and networking event called ‘Green Buildings — Fact or Fiction?’ at its premises.
Headed by key personnel from both the CRB and EGBC, the seminar was chaired by Mario Seneviratne, secretary to the board of the EGBC. It was reportedly well-attended by a large number of top government officials, real estate and construction company representatives, NGOs, investors and communication and risk management professionals.
The seminar highlighted the current and proposed UAE and Dubai Municipality regulatory framework and plans for green building advancement. It also covered topics such as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme internationally and in the UAE, and ended with a panel discussion on the impact of the green building movement in Dubai.
