Al Naboodah Construction Group (ANCG) has won five contracts collectively worth $204m (AED750m) that includes work with Mitsubishi Electric and Siemens.

ANCG has been contracted to build four substations for the Dubai Energy Water Authority (DEWA), three of which have been contracted through Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, with the remaining one to be delivered in a partnership with German manufacturing giant Siemens.

Work on the four substations – located in Wadi Al Safa, Al Mamzar, Warsan, and Dubai South –  will begin in July, with 2020 slated as a likely completion date.

ANCG also signed a contract to launch infrastructure work in Meydan. Its scope includes building roads, landscaping, and the installation of utilities.

In a strong month of work for the UAE-based contractor, another contract was inked to build the new 46,700m² headquarters for a "leading airline". Due to commercial sensitivities, ANCG could not confirm the identity of its client. However, utility buildings, multiple car parks, boundary walls, and infrastructure will be built in addition to the main headquarters. This fast-tracked project is due for delivery in the end of 2018.

The final contract will see ANCG build a fire station, ambulance station, and police station, providing fit-out and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work for the three emergency stations.

Commenting on the contract wins, Senan Abdullah Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah, ANCG's managing director said: “Al Naboodah’s long history of construction in the UAE, as well as our unique business model which includes being self-sufficient and providing our own asphalt, concrete, MEP, plant, and equipment, makes us highly competitive in the industry.

"For 60 years the company has focused on delivering excellence in execution and has been instrumental in constructing some of the UAE’s most iconic projects.”

Meanwhile, Construction Week exclusively revealed earlier this year that internal structural changes were under way at the MEP division of ANCG. Trans Gulf, the MEP unit, is set to be repositioned as a division serving ANCG's civil engineering and building division.
