Dubai Investment Properties (DIP) said its multi-million dollar Sunset development was one of the region’s most energy efficient buildings.
The company, working closely with the project’s architects, Arkiteknik International, chose the latest green technologies in its construction, it said today.
“Sunset was designed to blend in and to compliment the Jumeirah community neighbourhood. We took every measure to make sure we do not add to the traffic or the congestion of Jumeirah Beach Road,” said DIP executive director Francois Faure.
Sunset is a mixed-use development comprising a shopping all, office space and residential units. The mall is enclosed with a heat-diverting glass that will cut the load on air conditioning, Faure said.

“Sunset will be one of the green-conscious buildings in the region,” the company said in a statement.
“We only used ecologically friendly materials and non-HCFC refrigerants to ensure that the building and the surrounding environment was healthier,” said Arkiteknik technical director Abdallah Moneimneh.
“We installed efficient thermal insulation system and high performance low E- glass to envelope the building to minimize heat gains. We also used heat recovery wheels to recover energy from the general extract air from the building and minimize the electric power consumption,” he said.
Sunset will be the newest addition to DIP’s string of projects to date, which include the Twin Towers, the Dubai Marine Beach Resort, Palm Strip Shopping Mall, Flora Creek Hotel and Le Meridien Residence.
