Welcome to Construction Week’s Top 50 GCC Developers 2018 list, our annual ranking of the region’s most active real estate developers. This list is designed to recognise the leaders that are driving construction activities in the Gulf, as well as their respective geographies, and planning communities for the future.

To compile this list, CW’s editorial team contacted developers from across the region to find out about the projects they’re currently working on, and their long-term growth strategies. We also considered publicly available information about project launches and deliveries from the past 12 months.

After three years of reduced national revenues stemming from the lacklustre oil price, few would suggest that times are easy for the Gulf’s construction and development segments.

Nevertheless, the region appears to be gradually adapting to the ‘new norm’, identifying novel methods of project finance and engineering to realise the GCC’s ambitious development visions in spite of wider market challenges.

The final rankings of the 2018 list are based on the best available information and our collective assessment of the region’s most active developers from the past 12 months. As with any compilation of this nature, some individuals will climb, some will fall, and others won’t make the cut. With this in mind, if you feel that a deserving figure from the Gulf’s real estate community has been overlooked, please feel free to get in touch.
